TLDR: The best MMM’s of 2023.
Hard to believe I’ve been writing these as long as I have.
153 weeks in a row to be exact.
With just a few weeks left in the year, I always like to do a little recap for those who have just joined us, and as a way to revisit what resonated most.
You can find The Best of 2021 here, recapping posts like The Rule of Three, Tlazocamati, How to Get Lucky, and (Obvious) Values.
And you can find The Best of 2022 here, recapping posts like 3-minute call, Follow-up & follow-through, Calendly Etiquette, Turbulence, Not an Option, I’ve got nothing today, and my move to Antler.
And now for the main event…
The Best Monday Morning Meetings of 2023
This year, 22,076 people read Monday Morning Meeting 34,082 times.
This is post #51 of 2023, with almost as many cartoon astronauts in hammocks eating donuts.
And our major themes continue to be business, psychology, leadership, frameworks, personal goals, and utter randomness.
This year, there were six posts that stood out among the rest.
#6 The Fisherman & The Businessman
TLDR: Uber driver or Nobel Prize winning writer Heinrich Theodor Böll? The question is are you working to live or living to work?
This post explores the promise of hard work and it challenges the view that more is better.
#5 The Many Lives Theory
TLDR: We’re the builders, and capable of living many lives over many decades. But to do so, we have to identify, order, and commit to what we want to experience.
In this one, I talked about my view on living many lives over the course of one.
#4 Illiquid Investing
TLDR: Investing in VC isn’t as scary or inaccessible as people think.
A little over a month ago, we talked about my personal approach to investing in VC and how, if you have the patience and the right approach, you can create meaningful personal outcomes.
#3 Pre & Post Meeting Etiquette
TLDR: Do the heavy lifting and be as organized with your important work as you wish someone else would be.
No surprise here, following the themes of Best of 2022, another basic work etiquette post is topping the charts.
#2 Scripting Your Year
TLDR: How are you scripting your 2024?
Just two weeks ago we talked about the value of scripting your entire year—something Jesse Itzler talks a lot about. Timely, I suppose!
#1 What’s in Store Vol. I & II
Volume I TLDR: Committing publicly to add a bit of social pressure to my 2023 goals
Volume II TLDR: Moving your 2023 goals forward by taking tiny actions that compound, a quick review of Stutz, and more about the book I wrote for founders.
To kick off 2023, I wrote two posts documenting my goals and sharing more publicly how I was moving them forward. These two, by far, were the most popular.
As an update, we knocked off a huge, almost 9-figure goal last week, but it won’t be announced for some time. And in total, we’ve cleared 40 of 52 goals from the list. All that remains now is the Misogi, the ski house, a piece of artwork, six books, two trips, and a podcast.
I’ve got some things in the works, so I think we’re going to end the year at around 46/52. Stay tuned!
Thank you for reading, and as always…
See you Monday.
