TLDR: Burnout usually happens when you aren’t winning. But if you’re working hard on things you love, the energy you can sustain is what helps you win. Sprint hard, rest hard.
18th, 25th, 1st.
Three Mondays and 2024 is officially here.
I suspect we’re taking the 25th off, and we’ll see about the first.
After five straight months of 10+ hour days, we’re taking a couple weeks off.
But truthfully, “vacation” is a strong word. We’re still going to be finishing strong, taking calls, answering emails, and dialed in with the founders as they close out their years.
And there’s more to come on the 2023 recap from a work perspective, but the TLDR is that the Antler US team absolutely dominated in what was otherwise the worst VC market in recent history. Really, we couldn’t be prouder of what the team and the founders accomplished this year.
As for closing out the year, luckily we can do this part of the job remote, so it’s annual solo trip time.
The plan is to ski, and knock Big Sky, Jackson Hole, and Taos off The Ski Trip Bucket List (#6, #10, and #34).
I’m also debating using the 30th and 31st to attempt the 4x4x48 as this year’s Misogi.
Somehow I think if I write it here, I won’t have any choice but to give it my best shot.
It’s kind of a perfect and crazy way to end the year.
Plus, check out these night sky views in New Mexico. Insane.
That will lead right into the first Monday and the first quarterly water fast of the year.
A little daunting to string that all together.
But a little exhilarating too.
Anyone want to join me and end the year with a bang?
I will say, when you plan your work this way—sprinting hard, resting hard, sprinting hard—it definitely has a way of giving you energy.
May be something to think about for 2024 if you’re scripting your year.
In any event, good luck finishing out your year, and happy almost holidays.
See you Monday.
