TLDR: “What you do today is important because you are exchanging a day of your life for it.”
Often times, the best people are attracted to the hardest problems.
They’re attracted to doing what others can’t or won’t.
They relish the opportunity to see what they’re made of. To realize their potential. To break away from the pack.
They don’t steal ideas because they’re too busy working on their own.
That’s why you have to ask more of them, not less.
Give people an occasion to rise to. A challenge to complete. An impact to have. A reason to be inspired.
For some it’s a positive affliction, for others, detrimental.
In my line of work, I meet a lot of people with a deep personal belief they’re meant for more—and they’re probably right.
But the issue is not whether they’re right or wrong, the issue is whether or not they’re playing to their strengths, making good decisions, and trading their time for something real.
That’s why the best people have a high bar for inspiration.
They know the opportunity cost of their time, and they value that time more than most.
The question is, what are you willing to trade a day of your life for?
See you Monday.
