TLDR: Resilience, self-reliance, and ambition
A bank holiday, sure, but still working of course.
I suppose the more time I spend in VC the more founder-like I become.
The last two weeks were the tale of two cities.
No not London & Paris—this isn’t about Dickens.
I had a few companies throw their hands up and shut it down.
But I also had some receive term sheets from the most legendary investors in they valley.
I suppose that’s the game though, and that’s the market we’re in.
It’s a timely reminder that resilience is arguably the most important trait of this journey.
That journey being life, but it’s also true for being a founder.
And of course for the founder, self-reliance, ambition, execution, and the ability to sell, recruit, and raise are not far behind.
It’s crazy to see what those traits have helped our founders and our internal teams to accomplish the last four months, but writing about it in detail feels unnecessary today.
As a friend often says, “well done is better than well said.”
And yes, I know, I’ll be the first to admit, I don’t always abide by that rule.
Certainly not on LinkedIn, where luck is equal to your specific knowledge times its surface area.
But today, as we prepare for the next 10 weeks of Antler’s Fall residency, I’m simply reminded that resilience, self-reliance, and ambition are key.
Or as my friends at LinkedIn used to day, “dream big, work hard, and get sh*t done.”
See you Monday.
