TLDR: No real topics I feel like going deep on this morning, so instead, here are just some random thoughts.

• Newark airport, what a disaster

• It has cost the government about $17B to stand up the REAL ID program since 2005. With ~250m people needing to switch over, and ~$30 average fee, that revenue isn’t anywhere near enough to offset the cost. We’re going to lose ~$12B, and every American needs to fill out DMV paperwork and stand in line? Are we sure there’s not a better, perhaps digital, way to do this?

• I’m not so sure MCP’s are the answer to our AI interoperability problems. Maybe it’s local storage

• Pre-founders need three things to realize their potential: Culture, Cofounders, and Capital

• I had a fairly large Series A get announced last week — amazing how many investors took credit for “being there on day one” or “being the first check in” — it just goes to show you that “inception” really is different than “pre-seed”

• One of my best friends is an orthopedic surgeon at one of the best hospitals in the world. Long call the other night about AI, and it was amazing how far from mainstream adoption we are

• At the same time, my healthcare investments are absolutely killing it

• Be patient, let it compound

• 11 investments this quarter — 45% female, but only 20% of all applicants were women

• Lots of copy cats coming for inception stage — grants, fellowships, bootcamps with possible funding, uncapped follow-ons, all very flattering

• You’re not supposed to “talk your book” in venture, but everyone does

• The Bear Season 3 was so disappointing. One great episode, one good episode, and the rest was a drawn out melodramedy that ends in maybe the worst possible way a season could end

• You took a calculator to math class, but now you take AI to the rest of your classes

• Vibe coding platforms will approach zero-shot over time. In other words, if you measure “average prompts to production” or “average prompts to first transaction” that number will approach zero. What does that mean for the world?

• The rental market in New York is absolutely bananas. Apartments are going $1,000 over ask with multi-year commitments. What is going on?

• A players hire A+ players. B players hire C+ players so that they’re not found out
