TLDR: You should go make yourself a personal website. It’s never been easier or more fun.
In just a few hours and about 100 prompts, I built myself a custom personal website.
I started on Lovable.dev with this prompt:
I want to make a personal website as a venture capitalist. I want visitors to be able to see my investment portfolio, read my writing, and contact me. Color scheme is black, green, white and silver. Let's use fonts like source code pro to have a "hello, world" feel and I have uploaded Ghibli style images of me to give it a cartoonish brand.
Within 10 minutes I had a working prototype.
My second prompt was about getting my name and the title of the website correct.
My third prompt was a list of portfolio companies.
My next few prompts were generated by Lovable to refactor certain pieces and fix errors it detected itself.
Within 10 more minutes, I had a working website that was generally accurate.
I added in my writing, with some of the most popular Monday Morning Meeting posts and a link to buy the book I published a couple years ago.
I then added a simple contact page, where you can sign up to attend AMA’s, apply to Antler, book time with me via Intro, and follow me LinkedIn, Twitter, and Substack.
From top to bottom of this post, you’re looking at maybe an hour or two of prompting, uploading images, and editing links.
What took the most time was manually editing Supabase to get portfolio companies accurate. Surprisingly, a lot of companies already had strong descriptions and website links as Lovable went out and found them on the web proactively, but I still had to make quite a few edits, and there are still more companies to add and errors to correct — but it’s probably 90% there.
I also spent quite a bit of time trying to build a private admin panel to make editing the pages easier, but failed at it.
All-in-all though, not bad for a few hours of work.
If you haven’t given one of the vibe coders a try, something like Lovable, carve out a few hours, and give it a go.
There’s just something so magical about a product that gives you the ability to use a skill you already have to unlock a skill you never thought you would.
Try it.
See you Monday.
