TLDR: Technology can do cool things and computer interfaces are changing.
The new AI software from OpenAI called DALL-E 2 is now letting people in off the waitlist.
If you haven’t heard of DALL-E 2, it’s a program that generates realistic images and art from plain text descriptions.
Think image search, but for anything you can dream up.
The tool is pretty mind-blowing, and the quality of the art…well that’s up to you.
For example, if I wanted a new image to replace our Monday Morning Meeting donuts, I might search something like: “cartoon astronaut painting on an island in outer space with sprinkled donut planets”
And here’s what I get back…
OpenAI is also the company that brought us the text generator GPT-3, and while these are just two examples, we are still in the very early innings of a massive opportunity to shift how humans and computers interact with each other.
Think search, but it does anything you can think of.
Now add to that people like Reid Hoffman starting companies like Inflection and raising $225m right out of the gates, and I think we have a trend worth keeping an eye on.
See you Monday.
